Our National Philanthropy
Delta Zeta‘s national philanthropy is speech and hearing, partnering with Starkey Hearing Foundation. Starkey provides hearing aids and continued support to thousands of people around the world with hearing loss. many Delta Zeta‘s have had the opportunity to participate in global mission trips with the Starkey foundation.
AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR DEAF CHILDREN
Our National Philanthropy
The American Society for Deaf Children (ASDC) has been serving families with deaf children for 53 years. Through this partnership, Delta Zeta members will have the opportunity to learn more about ASL, gain a greater understanding of Deaf culture, spread awareness and become informed and effective allies of the Deaf community.
Each year, the sisters of Delta Zeta-Lambda Kappa help to support these philanthropies by holding fundraising events and raising money through their Heart for Hearing pages. For the past 13 years, we have held an annual Chili Cook-Off. This event, traditionally held in the fall, is a time when sisters, their families, UAH students and faculty, and other members of the community come together to enjoy delicious chili and compete for the winning title.
Additionally, the past 4 years we've held Hounds For Hearing during the Spring semester. Hounds for Hearing is a pet pageant where participants are able to enter their dogs into the categories of talent and costume, and beauty. Along with that, this event includes a backyard Bar-B-Q, yard games, raffles, and more! While all proceeds are donated to our philanthropy partners, we also work with local animal rescues so they can bring adoptable dogs to the event.
We have held a variety of other fundraisers in the past including prom dress resales, Lazy Days, and many tabling sales including selling roses, stickers, hot chocolate, and many more.

All fundraising profits are split amongst our philanthropies. 80% goes to the American Society for Deaf Children, 10% goes to the Huntsville Pediatric Audiology Unit, and 10% goes to the Delta Zeta Foundation. The Delta Zeta Foundation provides scholarships and support to sisters across the U.S. and Canada.
